In 2024, Makhlouf Sons secured a $655,640 investment through the Egypt Green Value Chain Financing Facility — supported by the European Union, Green Climate Fund, and EBRD — to modernize our production with eco-friendly technologies. This investment funded new non-woven fabric production equipment that incorporates recycled materials, and energy-efficient PET sheet manufacturing machines.

Measurable Environmental Impact

The results of our green investment have been significant and measurable. We achieved a 30% reduction in greenhouse gas emissions (777 tonnes of CO2 equivalent per year), 28% energy savings (4,914 GJ per year), and increased annual profitability by EGP 6.7 million — proving that sustainability and profitability go hand in hand.

Our sustainable product range includes recycled-content stretch films and bags that perform identically to virgin-material alternatives, biodegradable agricultural mulch films that eliminate plastic waste from farmlands, environmentally friendly shopping bags made from recycled materials, and PET packaging sheets manufactured using our new energy-efficient production line. Creating Jobs While Going Green
